Serena Williams took to social media to respond to allegations that she has been bleaching her skin.
Fans have noticed that the tennis star’s complexion has been appearing lighter than usual.
“For all the haters out there, I do not bleach my skin,” she said on Instagram Live. “There’s something called sunlight, and in different lighting, you get different shades.”
Serena went on to say that she is a dark, Black woman who loves the way that she looks but that she has nothing against people who decide to bleach their skin and that they should be able to if they have the opportunity.
“I don’t judge, but you guys do. But that’s what this world is about and I stay in my lane, the non-judgy one…but no I actually don’t bleach my skin. So, can we just kinda clear that up,” she added.
In the comments, some fans suggested that her complexion may be lighter as she’s not out in the sun playing tennis the way she was back at the height of her career.
