The Philadelphia Eagles Could Win the Super Bowl and Still Earn the No. 1 Pick In The 2023 NFL Draft Thanks To A Stroke Of Genius

The Philadelphia Eagles remain undefeated team remaining in the NFL.

Nobody? Yeah, me neither, and I’ve been a die-hard Birds fan my whole life. The Eagles have soared out to a 4-0 record to start the season, and they’re now topping nearly every power ranking list out there on the internet.

With a friendly schedule the rest of the way, Philadelphia could realistically finish the season with 13 or 14 wins and enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Hell, we even have blogs and media pundits already starting the 17-0 phiconversation about Nick Sirianni’s squad.

Although that may be farfetched, the Eagles could go 17-0 in the regular season, win the Super Bowl, and still end up with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. How? Howie Roseman, that’s how.

The Eagles are on pace to finish with the best record in the

The Eagles are 4-0 through four weeks, Jalen Hurts is one of the top three favorites to win the MVP award, and this team already looks to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. They aren’t just dominating one aspect of the game, either.

Philadelphia ranks fifth in the NFL in passing yards, fifth in rushing yards, fourth in points scored, ninth in points allowed, and first in takeaways. Hurts has been incredible in his second season as the starter, but this is an extremely balanced roster with virtually no weaknesses.

The offensive line is still elite, the defense line is as deep as you’ll find around the league, and Hurts is playing at an MVP level. Philly has only five games remaining on its schedule against teams with winning records, and two of those games are against the New York Giants.

The Eagles will reach double-digit wins if they can stay healthy all season, and they could realistically win the Super Bowl for the second time in six years.

The Eagles could win the Super Bowl and still pick No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft

We all know how the NFL draft order works, right? The team with the worst record in the league picks first the following year, while the Super Bowl winner picks last. But in Philadelphia’s case, it could win the Super Bowl and still pick first in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Let me explain.

Ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Eagles traded pick No. 16 and pick No. 19 to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for pick No. 18 and a 2023 first-rounder. There were other picks involved with the deal, but these were the most impactful.

Philadelphia still owns its 2023 first-round pick, but it will also select in place of the Saints next year. New Orleans has struggled out of the gate to a 1-3 record, and it currently holds the No. 4 overall pick in next year’s draft.

So, if all goes perfectly for Philly, the Eagles will win the Super Bowl and the Saints will finish with the worst record in the NFL. In that case, the Eagles will own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after winning the championship a few months before.

Howie Roseman, you dirty dog.
