SIXERS: WAS THIS OFFSEASON A FAILURE?

How Did The Sixers Do In The Offseason?  Well Seeing As Though Theyre A Young Contending Team On The Rise, Here’s A Quick Breakdown.

No. 1- ( “Star Hunting” ) When Brett Brown – Who Is A Good Coach, Coined The Phrase “Star Hunting”  He Inadvertently Over Inflated The Eager Expectations Of Hungry Sixers Fans Who Were Still Giddy & Hyped About The Previous Season Were The Sixers Went 52-30 , Reached The Playoffs & Had A  (.634) Winning Percentage.

So By Using The Term “Star Hunting” Along With The Media & Sports Talk Shows Also Pushing This Sentiment, Sixers Fans Were Rightfully Expecting A Free Agent Signing That Had Marquis Status! They Didnt Get It!

Verdict — Cloudy Skies, No Stars!

No. 2-  ( The Draft ) The Acquisition Of Villanova Small Forward Mikal Bridges Had A Homegrown Feel Good Backstory To It, But Before The Party Ball Dropped “Bamm”!  They Traded Him To Phoenix For The Rights To Zharie Smith.  Ouch!

The Concerning Issue With That Could Be Percieved As, Mikal Bridges Is A 3&D Player, Meaning He Could’ve Immediatly Came Off The Bench For Defense & Hit The 3 When Needed.  In Other Words, He’s A Lesser Robert Covington That Can Make Layups!

Essentially He Could’ve Given The Sixers Immediate Scoring + The 3&D That They Needed, Because Lets Face It Folks,  Zharie Smith Is Raw & Needs Work!  Who Knows What He’ll Do 3 Years Down The Road,  But As Of This Year He Is Not An Immediate Contributor, And That’s What The Sixers Needed.

Verdict– Burned Bridges!

No. 3 –  ( Gained/Lost ) What The Sixers Gained Was A Guy By The Name Of Wilson Chandelor ( 10.4 pts. 5.4 rebounds )  What They  Lost Was… Ersan Ilyasova,  Who Averaged (10.9 pts. & 36 % From The 3 Pt. Line )  &  Marco Bellinelli Who Averaged 11.4 pts & A Nice 37.2 %  From The 3 pt. Line!

With These Two, The Sixers Bench Unit Would’ve Been Taken More Seriously!  Currently The Sixers Reserves Rank Near The Bottom Of The NBA in Ppg. 26th, Field Goals 26th & 3 Pointers 29th.  So These Two Players Would’ve Ultimately Strengthened Their Bench.  Essentially This Would’ve Really Opened Up The Floor For Embiid & Simmons.

Verdict– Could’ve Should’ve Would’ve!

*While Writing This Article The Sixers Traded Justin Anderson & Timothy Luwawu- Cabarrot For Mike Muscala ( Insert Eye Roll Here ) And Sadly The Magnitude Of This Trade Doesn’t Change The Scope Of This Article.

*Everything In This Article Hints To Why The Sixers Will Have A Worst Record This Season Than They Did Last Season. In Part 2 Of This Article It Will Point To How The Sixers Will Be A Better Team & Have A Better Record This Season Then They Were Last Season!

Ultimately Sixers Fans Will Have To Wait For The Season To See What These Trades Or Lack Thereof Will Bring & This Article Itself Is Just A Small Representation Of Some Of The Sixers ( Who Are A Good Contending Team )  Off Season Moves.
