Seahawks Dump Eagles Draft Bust!
|
Sidney Jones is out of a job. Again.
Pro Football Talk reports the Seattle Seahawks waived the cornerback Tuesday after the NFL trade deadline passed.
Jones was a second-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The Eagles rolled the dice with Jones, who had been considered a top-10 pick before suffering an Achilles injury while still in school at the University of Washington.
The 26-year-old Jones played in just one game as a rookie and suited up for 22 games over three injury-plagued seasons with the Eagles, making eight starts.
Philadelphia waived Jones before the start of the 2020 season, after which he hooked on with the Jaguars, playing in nine games for Jacksonville.
During training camp in 2021, the Jaguars traded Jones to the Seahawks for a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Jones played in 19 games over two seasons with the Seahawks, including three this year.
In six NFL seasons, Jones has played in 50 games, recording four interceptions and one forced fumble.
