Ryan Garcia Claims He’s ‘Officially Retired ’ From Boxing Just Over A Week After Vandalism Arrest!

Boxer Ryan Garcia said he is now “officially retired” from boxing in a series of social media posts on Wednesday night amid some controversies he has been at the center of.

Whether Garcia, 25, is actually stepping away from the ring, time will tell, but the posts come about two months after he defeated WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney in a stunning majority decision at Barclays Center just and weeks after he was reportedly arrested on a felony vandalism charge in Beverly Hills.

“I’ll still be training but I’m hurt and done with it and everyone,” Garcia wrote in one post on X. “The sad part is I’m a great boxer And I entertain and knock people out. I’m sad bc I [love] boxing. Praying for everyone and I hope everyone has a great life.”

It was in the following post that Garcia (25-1, 20 knockouts) declared: “I’m officially retired.”

In an earlier post on X, Garcia listed out the difficulties he has faced in his life in recent days.

In his latest controversy, Garcia was arrested earlier in June after the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, California claimed the boxer had caused property damage that resulted in police responding to a call of an “intoxicated person” in June.

ESPN reported Garcia allegedly caused $15,000 in damages

This came after ESPN revealed in May that Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance Ostarine before his fight with Haney.

The tests were taken by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association prior to the fight, but the results weren’t known until afterward, ESPN reported.

Before the bout and the positive PED test, he also had announced his divorce and the birth of his second child on the same day in January.

A report from Boxing Scene indicated that the New York State Athletic Commission would be meeting this week to decide what the outcome will be regarding Garcia’s two positive drug tests for a banned performance-enhancing substance.

Garcia potentially could face a fine, suspension or have his victory over Haney overturned.
