In the heart of the Strawberry Mansion district, a significant encounter took place at the Strawberry Square Mall. While sitting in my car, I spotted a silver vehicle passing by—it was Dr. Umar Johnson, the Prince of Pan-Africanism.
This meeting was more than a chance encounter; it represented a mutual understanding of our shared responsibilities to uplift our communities.
I have known of Dr. Umar’s work for years, having first heard about him in my early twenties and later interacting with him on David Barnes’s show. During that discussion, he referenced W.E.B. Du Bois’s belief that unity could save more so-called Black people than a million policies.
This sentiment resonates deeply with me, particularly as I focus on the implications of the 13th Amendment for the American Freedman community.
During our brief interaction, we didn’t delve into our respective contributions but instead discussed the urgency of coming together to advocate for American Freedmen. The significance of this meeting lies in the potential impact that Dr. Umar’s influence can have when combined with the constitutionally binding information I possess.
It is crucial that we unite to address the unique challenges faced by the American Freedman community.
Dr. Umar expressed his willingness to collaborate, encouraging me to take his number for future discussions. Our conversation highlighted the importance of leveraging our platforms to advance reparative justice.
This encounter serves as a reminder that collaboration is vital for effecting meaningful change. By working together, we can elevate the consciousness of both American Freedmen and the broader diasporic community.
I look forward to reaching out to Dr. Umar soon to explore the potential of our partnership. This meeting marks the beginning of what could be a fruitful alliance, holding promise for significant advancements in our advocacy for justice and empowerment.
