NFL star Michael Irvin was accused by Marriott, and a woman who worked with the organization of s**ual harassment. The multi-billion dollar company then pressure the NFL Network to fire Michael, just before the Super Bowl. Michael subsequently sued Marriott, claiming that he was innocent.
It’s now officially confirm that the lawsuit is over – and that Michael Irvin received a GIANT BAG over the incident. We spoke with a person close to Michael – who did not sign the confidential settlement agreement – who told us that Michael received $25 MILLION from Marriott.
The former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin reached a settlement with the Marriott hotel chain in his $100 million defamation lawsuit dating back to February. The settlement paved the way for Michael to once again appear on NFL Network for the first time since the outlet’s Super Bowl coverage began on Feb. 6.
The late-breaking development was first reported by the Dallas Morning News.
“Michael Irvin has been reinstated and will be a part of NFL Network’s coverage of the 2023 season,” said Alex Riethmiller, NFL Media vice president of communication, via a statement.
Details of the settlement are confidential … but our source gave us the exclusive tea on the financial terms of the deal.
And the settlement must have exonerated Michael, because the NFL network gave him his old job back.
Michael had been indefinitely suspended from the network following claims from a Phoenix Marriott employee that the Hall of Famer made sexually lewd comments to her in a hotel lobby. Irvin admitted that he did not recall all of the exact details of his exchange with the woman but denied her accusations;.
Several eyewitnesses had come forward backing up Michael’s version of events that nothing untoward happened. Video footage showed nothing out of the ordinary.
