Here’s What Zach Ertz Had To Say About His Former Teammates

Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz sat in front of a camera, ready to talk to reporters about his time with the Eagles
Behind him was a backdrop with the Cardinals logo. Even with it being almost a year since Ertz was traded to the Cardinals for cornerback Tay Gowan and a sixth-round pick, it still looked weird, being that Ertz has spent the first almost nine seasons of his career with the Eagles, including his go-ahead touchdown that helped bring Philadelphia its first world championship in Super Bowl LII.
Ertz is the latest former Eagles player of significance that the team will face when the Eagles take on the Cardinals Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Ahead of the matchup, Ertz talked a lot about his time with the Eagles Monday, saying that he and his wife Julie felt like they were home in the city.
We came there when I was 22 years old and essentially gave everything we had to the city,” Ertz said. “We felt that love and passion reciprocated each and every day. We just felt such a connection to the fans and the communities. You can’t really put it into words. I feel like what that city means to us to this day. It will always have a special place in our hearts, even though we’re in Arizona now. But it was just so much fun … Even though it’s 3,000 miles away from where I grew up. It was home by the end. We have a lot of special memories there.”
Ertz said he still speaks with many of his former teammates, such as center Jason Kelce, right tackle Lane Johnson, defensive end Brandon Graham and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. Ertz admitted that
he was not having an easy time in the last 18 months he spent with the Eagles. Although he said he did not want to address what caused him angst during the end of his tenure with the Eagles, Ertz said he might address it at some point in the future.
I’m going to leave that in the past,” Ertz said. “Maybe down the road, but I got a lot of fond memories there.
