Eagles Sign Yet Another Former Alabama Star
|
Fly Tide, fly.
The Eagles, with more former Alabama players than any other NFL team, signed another on Monday: Offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher joined the practice squad as Philadelphia returns from a bye week to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.
Pierschbacher fills a hole created last week when the Washington Commanders signed guard Julian Good-Jones.
Pierschbacher has been inactive since August, when he was cut by the Detroit Lions with an injury settlement after starting at center in the preseason opener. He has played 11 games in the NFL, including three for the Eagles in 2020.
Selected by the Commanders in the fifth round of the 2019 draft, he spent time last season with the Jets and Lions.
Pierschbacher becomes the eighth former Alabama player on the Eagles’ roster, joining quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Julio Jones, guard Landon Dickerson, cornerback Josh Jobe, cornerback Eli Ricks and offensive lineman Tyler Steen.
Pierschbacher was named to the All-SEC first-team as a guard in 2017 and as a center in 2018.
