Eagles Make Roster Cuts Following NFL Draft
|
It’s been two days since the 2024 NFL Draft concluded and the Philadelphia Eagles have continued to stay busy.
Philadelphia waived nose tackle Noah Elliss, wide receiver Griffin Herbert, cornerback Tiawan Mullen, and offensive lineman Lecitus Smith. Eagles Today’s own John McMullen was first on the roster move announcements.
Elliss was seen to compete for depth along the defensive line, especially with their expected move to a 3-4 scheme under Vic Fangio. Mullen, Herbert, and Smith were all long-shots to make the roster due to the influx of talent at each position.
The Eagles drafted cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean with their first two picks of the 2024 draft. They also drafted late-round offensive linemen Trevor Keegan and Dylan McMahon to bolster the depth of the roster. To cap the depth of the roster, Philadelphia selected wide receiver Ainias Smith and running back Will Shipley to bolster the overall skill position group
In short, the recent roster moves came after the depth of the team was further addressed.
In the 2024 draft, Philadelphia made nine picks, completed trades than any other team on draft day in 30 years, and accumulated more draft capital for the 2025 season on the weekend.
