Eagles’ Brandon Graham Talks Possible Super Bowl Strip-Sack of ‘GOAT’ Patrick Mahomes
|
Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham made two big declarations on Thursday: He thinks Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already the greatest signal-caller of all time, and he’s hoping to get a strip-sack on him just like he did against former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII.
“Man, getting a strip sack on him too, that’d be nice,” he told reporters. “But we’re going to have some fun, man. He’s definitely the GOAT because he’s already won one and you can see he’s been here a lot of times already. And he’s young. Credit to him and his hard work and Coach [Andy] Reid, being paired up with a good coach, and just taking full advantage of his opportunity.”
Most people would have Brady as the GOAT. But if you’re Graham and you already sacked and stripped Brady in one of the decisive plays in the first Super Bowl title in Eagles history, maybe you’re a little less impressed.
Don’t be shocked if the 34-year-old Graham gets after Mahomes plenty during Super Bowl LVII on Sunday. The veteran edge-rusher had a career-high 11 sacks this year, part of a fearsome Philly pass rush that easily led the NFL with 70 sacks.
Make no mistake—these Eagles are coming for Mahomes.
“He’s one of the quarterbacks in the league that I haven’t been able to sack yet or haven’t gotten to yet,” Haason Reddick, who posted 16 sacks this season, told reporters during Super Bowl opening night. “If I’m able to get to him and I get him in the Super Bowl, that’s going to be historic for me.”
