Dwyane Wade’s 15-Yr-Old Daughter, Zaya, Legally Changes Name & Gender

Last year, three-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade filed a petition at a Los Angeles County court regarding a name a gender change for his teenage daughter, Zaya.

 

Although the move was resisted by Zaya’s biological mother, Siohvaughn Funches, the motion was made official today when a Judge signed off on the request. Therefore, the legal name of D-Wade’s second oldest child is now Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade.

 

Zaya went public with her transgender identity in 2020. Since then, she has been an advocate for trans women, with the support of her father and stepmother, Gabrielle Union.
