A.J. Brown: I Wanted to Make Titans ‘Regret’ Offseason Trade with Eagles
|
A.J. Brown went off against his former team Sunday, catching eight passes for 119 yards and two scores in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 35-10 win over the Tennessee Titans.
After the game, Brown said he wanted to make the Titans regret trading him to Philly in the offseason
The Titans traded Brown to the Eagles for the Nos. 18 and 101 overall picks in the 2022 draft—the Titans used the first pick to select Treylon Burks and the second one in a trade to compile more picks—and Brown promptly signed a four-year, $100 million extension with the Birds.
He said during the week that over halfway through his first season in Philly, he already knew it was the best possible outcome.
“I feel like regardless of how the trade and everything goes down, I feel like me personally, I feel like I’ve won,” he told reporters. “I say that because I changed my family’s life forever.
That’s the goal. Especially growing up from where I’m from. Of course I want to do great and accomplish all the great things, but that’s the reason why we play the game.”
On the field, the difference between Brown and Tennessee’s receiving corps was stark. Titans’ wideouts caught just four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown Sunday, though Burks did leave the game after suffering a concussion on his scoring reception.
In total, Tennessee had just 16 receptions for 157 yards and the score in the game.
Brown may have won with the financial security he received in his extension, but he’s also winning quite a bit with the 11-1 Eagles, who look like legitimate title contenders—and arguably the front-runners—this season.
The Titans, meanwhile, are still 7-5 and in first place in the AFC South, but it was clear on https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10057625-aj-brown-i-wanted-to-make-titans-regret-offseason-trade-with-eaglesSunday that the Eagles were in a different tier than Tennessee. Certainly, the impact of Brown was a big reason why.
