American basketball player Brittney Griner, one of the WNBA’s biggest stars, was arrested last month by Russian customs officials at a Moscow airport on suspicion of drug smuggling after authorities said they found vape cartridges with hashish oil in her luggage.

The Russian Federal Customs Service said an American citizen, later identified as Griner, was arrested in February after flying from New York into Sheremetyevo International Airport, the busiest airport in Russia.4

On top of this troubling news, political insiders are now saying that it’s possible Griner could be used as a political pawn in light of the current Russian Ukraine conflict.

The immediate reference that comes to mind is Otto Wambier, an American student,  that stole a flag in 2015 from a North Korean hotel & was sentenced to 25 years hard labor!

The Embassy got involved & within 3 years secured his release but sadly & horrifying he returned home “Brain Dead”!

This is a horrible & terrifying position for the young WNBA Star to be in & our prayers go out to Brittney & her family.
